Performance day on 1st Dec, Monday Evening
hahas! been pretty hectic to blog. and as always, this has always been a memorable event.
this yr's been pretty different for me again. only did 1 tap item due to injuries/committment and all. hence, i had more time to really shoot some photos. used my S125 and my almost dying 30D with the 50mm 1.8 to shoot.
somehow, dance has always been my subconsicous alter ego. i dont usually associate/acknowledge this part of the artsy side as to suit my... erm... style. hahahs. but w/o it (when i had to retreat due to injuries), it feels like a big part of my life was left... unattended. and so.. being the 23rd Recital, this may be my 9th or 10th recital. i can't even rmbr if my very first recital was in 1994 or 1996. i rmbr started dancing at 5 yrs old or smth. haahas! the longest thing i've ever been committed to in my entire life.
over the years, i've seen dancers come and go. more imptly, i've seen dancers grew in their strength and techniques. it kinda feels like seeing little ducklings grow into beautiful swans. hahahs! so for that, it gives me that tinge of warm-awww-feeling. :')

ok.. so here's some of my fav photos of both evenings. pardon for the diff alignment coz of the diff aspect ratio of the photos from the 2 diff cams. didn't have time to edit the photos.
(perhaps shall post up some vids soon!)
rehearsal photos first!
and actual day!
what really gave me a fuzzy feeling was at the dismissal point during intermission, when the kids are released to their parents. the way all the parents hug their respective kids..... i tell you, happy tears in my heart sia. hahahs. this year i didn't 'invite' mother poon along.. ahhhaas. coz its only 1 item, so i shall spare her the trouble. all these yrs, she's been the #1 fan. only the last yr and this yr that she didn't get to watch it live. she dont mind anyways. hahas. but yea, its such joyous times that i really #wishyouwere here to just share the joy with you. but i guess i can deal with it coz.... aunty jill gave me flowers! whahahs. b4 giving them to me, she was like "this may spoil ur image on ur way home but...here's some flowers for u." whahas.
but yea. all the months of preparation... my item is to the 'Cup Song' and 'Happy'. kinda sick of the song coz i've been hearing it since June or smth. ahhahas. this yr didn't make too much mistakes on stage coz of all the practices. there's this part where all of us do the cup thing in a circle.... .for the record, we FINALLY got it 100% right w/o mistakes.. coz that part is relatively fast and requires abit more coordination. ahhhaa. during the technical rehearsals and even full dress rehearsals, someone would either make some mistake by dropping the cup or like miss the beat. quite funny... coz halfway through u'd see cups rolling around. i'm pretty sure ms susan got that "yess ahhh" feeling while watching from the curtains of the final performance. ahhahahs. so yep. here's the photos.
Mother and daughter combo. very talented Tengs.
just before our perfmance. hahas. even after sooooo many years, still feeling that jitters. there's always that 1% chance that u'll blank out on stage man. hahas.
love this item alot too! didn't realized that the dancer was changing on stage until performance day!
all the tchrs & cheographers. Really aweseome stuff
< 3
Ms Susan my tap tchr ever since Day 1.
Ms Shanti my ballet tchr. love her pieces.. very creative, beautiful and inspiring.
and lastly, Aunty Jill aka The Boss. she's the one that has watched me grow since i was 5.
and i present to you... backstage messsss.
oli and dd. the few who have stuck it through it all, rockin' since 1990s. both very talented.
and so.. that's it for this yr. DA Recital happens every fortnight year. this yr, very inspired and there's an 80% chance that i'm finally gg back to Ballet despite the ban from my physio. well. no harm trying right. just be extra careful with the knee i guess. perhaps, might join ms shanti's lyrical jazz as well! ahhas. i guess i said that the last recital, but rugby took up too much time.
but.... this yr, since i've changed (rugby) club and work is more or less settled, i really might consider! just needa manage the finances abit. :) hahahahs, for the record, i used to do Jazz.. but some how, the time slot changed to a Hip Hop class under Patrick. i think when i was about 11 yrs old. his class is freakin good. did about 2 yrs of Hip Hop, 1 recital then i stopped because of the Ballet exams.. actually, its more because i just didn't have the groove of it. too unexpectedly-stiffly-'ballet-trained'. hahahas. missing those times. should have taken more photos then!
so yep. here's to the success of my alter ego on stage. :D
till next time!
