wont be typing much here coz after work tmr, i'll be gg to KL for a rugby wkend!
onto work first, we're now into the first of the 2 weeks in LMO.
hoping to learn as much as i possibly can since its just 2 wks with the ops.
one of my fav photo candidly taken by the tech.
so collectively, its been about 2 months with them. have learnt alot from the seniors and this is the philippino bunch of them. hahas. thanks for loaning ur tools and teaching me to wirelock more effectively. really hope to be working with u guys again!
2 saturdays ago, went to collect my passport then climbed at Yishun on a v hot day.
climbed alot for the wkend since Monday is holidayyyy.
check out the blisters. hahas. so work was pretty painful since there was still hyd and fuel part to it.
and so, last saturday, went down to support Stanley at the Urban Attack. here's his vid on his 2nd attempt which rained heavily after. hahas. totally made it looked too easy. should have taken a vid of other competitors so u'll understand how much upper body strength is needed. allez man. hahas.
nice for everyone to just come down from all places just to support stan and just chill when its raining outside. these are the friends i know i'd be growing up with for a long time.
and after that, its MEISY'S AND LI BERT'S WEDDING
(:
photos are by melvin, special mention on this one that's via his phone. ahhas
for th group of us, we've been friends since 2006. we're photographers for IMF event held in Singapore back then and have kept in contact ever since.
we've watched all of us grow up over the yrs, from studying to working, and now attending each other's weddings. really an honour and pleasure to be growing up with this v talented and versatile group of ppl too. ahhas. we've got lawyer, IT expert and basically, our whatapp group is the best and most legit helpline/talkcok/ google / infocounter u can ever have.. hahahas.
(:
next up, the following day was Nila Run.
jokes.
it was a 10km run at a 6.10am flag off. hahahs. signed up with ah huat. we're early. but because of the road blocks, we couldn't find a way to park our vehs. nvm. so after that, we're still rather on time. BUT. we couldn't find the start point / baggage area..... in fact we're given the wrong directions... ok, not exactly the wrong direction since we were able to get there, but it was a longgggg way there.
and soon it POURRRED. so so heavy as if the sky fell. we managed to find the end point though. hahas. running through the ending point with other 50min runners with our big duffle bag, and still not being able to find the start point. hahahs. should have taken a vid. quite epic.
many (unexpected) firsts with this guy. not sure if its a good or bad thing. hahas
but i managed to get close to The SEA games torch! pretty cool.
see the rain and the wet mess the runners have done at Kallang wave mall which was the nearest poitn of refuge.
hahas. one of the sports that i regret not doing since young was gymnastic.. others include sailing and climbing. #closeenough
after that, we had breakfast and lepark at KFCs and then macs for about 5hrs.. probably almost 6hrs
hahahhahas. it was really a lepak day. and we're all cold and drenched.
so by lunch, we decided to head to Campers Corner to look at climbing shoes. visited the arcteryx store too. finally bought this bag that ALL my climbing kakis have. hahas. ok. 40% influced. 60% is because it really makes all ur climbing gear compactly neat and tidy. was thinking of geting the raspberry pink colour one coz its really nice! but black is still my colour. hahahas.
aft that went to Food for Thought since its just nearby. sinful cravings.
#wishyouwerehere to share with us. but oh wells.
and yes, its SEA GAMES WEEK.
feeling abit wierd that i'm not involved in this event in any way. probably if i was still schooling and not working, i would have the time and opportunity to do more or at least volunteer.
got soooo many friends in so many sports competiting. i dont have the time to really list down every one of them, but i want to wish them ALL THE BEST especially to friends from rugby, bowling, gymnast, fencing, sailing, golf, shooting, athletics judo and so on. probably have missed out some, but i knew most of them through the World University Games a few yrs back in shenzhen.
just gonna post some photos on the ruggers coz i know how hard they've been training for this, and especially the sacrifices they had to make... waking up early just to gym b4 6am and go to work afterwards. some even gave up their job just to focus on trng. also really proud of Jes and Dereyl who were part of the Touch World Cup team who finished Bronze last month.
and so, the ladies finished with a Silver! while the guys a commendable Bronze.
(photos taken from all over social media. hahas)
#fangirlmode really proud of Sam to see her grow so so much over the yrs.... and now a Captain of the SEA Games team with most of the players older than her.
lastly, the Sabah Quake.
photo taken in 2008, the first mountain i've ever climbed that made me thirst for more adventures ever since.
I find myself being quite affected by it and just didn't feel emotionally comfortable throughout the week. though i dont know anyone involved, but my heart feels so heavy and i've never felt like that for any other disasters or even plane crashes.Perhaps its because the bulk of it includes the lives of little primary school children and since its my very first mountain i visited even before i was 18. I still rmbr that excitement and those life-defining moments that made me who i am today.
Thats the thing about Mother Nature. In her awesomeness of majestic beauty, there lies that power deep within. Perhaps not many can fathom the cultures and beliefs of the tribal / religious grps, however we should give Mother Nature the due respect she deserves. Ya, we can all prevent this and that by simply not doing anything in the first place; however "We can’t stop the falling rocks but we can stop throwing stones"...so dont kill the adventurous spirit and curiosity in young ppl. Shit happens, but lets focus on giving the support the family needs to cope with the pain and loss and also appreciate those who put their lives on the line just for others.
:(

okok. that's about what happen for the wkends and week.
along the week, happy to be able to find some time to spend with you despite being very physically tired from work and everything. time with you is always too short and never enough. as i looked how tired u also were that day, i felt abitt guilty. hahas. really miss you, too much that i'm back into my afraid mode, again.
idk what i should be doing also. that's y i never want to be happy coz it can be taken away from you. i'd rather be sad/neutral forever coz at that height then, u wont fall that bad.
today was a really a not so friendly day for me coz didn't have a good day at work though the sunrise was pretty awesome today, so i guess with such negativity i was just able to shut u off abit, long enough for me to realize so many things. probably over thinking as usual. many things could go wrong, but i just let it be. i feel like really blogging it all out coz ultimately, i'm still v afraid that i'd entirely lose u as a friend, but i guess i gotta stop now since its gg to be a loooong day tmr.
good night and ya.
may you evaporate from my thoughts because sometimes its just toooo distracting to get on with the day.
