world of my own

owing hundreds of ppl thousands of photos kinda feels more jia lat than O$P$.

wedding photos x 2
wedding vids x 2 - 1
event photos , dvds x many many many.

in the midst, working and working with a pay really low. and i mean if its not for the nice ppl in the company i might have betrayed the company and myself by gg to a higher-paid company to be a saikang warrior; no OT, no intherain, no unreasonable customer's rubbish words.

ya.

and when i mean higher-paid, i mean x 2 kind of higher.

omg. the more i talk, the more i'm psycho-ing myself.

u know,
i've declined MANY MANY official photography jobs. like for real. those freelance kind. somehow, some ppl just managed to grab hold of my contact, those i've rejected them. and even so, i'm still loaded with tons of photos to manage. and i'm not talking abt editing them yet.

i need like a plain whole week up in the mountains to just sort out my life, and my photos.

thank God for my mac pro which is able to hold up all these photos for now.

The 26th Universiade, Shenzhen 2011

World University Games.
4,865 photos taken.
(selectively having a tough time choosing 200, hoping to fit into one photo album and making it my favourite. hahas)

Singapore took part in 11 sports. event was officially from 12-23 August 2011. the full team sets out from 8-25 August; and because of convocation in Singapore, it was a 11-day (11 aug- 21 aug) for me. ):

tough level competition. however, against all odds, Singapore managed to bag home a Silver from Sailing in Laser Radial by Victoria. (: well done girl!

too many great experiences, great local and universal friends made. learnt alot more about other countries, other sports and keep getting inspired each time; honestly not minding to be cooped up in the Universiade Village for 11 days, and getting out to Dongmen just to get BEATS earphones. hahas. yep. missing the endless flow of coke, sprite, water, orange juice, etc, free laundry services, hugeass dining hall, and the long waits for the lift just to go up to the 3rd level in blk C3. hahahs. and having a Korean archery coach as my roomie was like having a fridge in my room literally. packed korean rice bowls, korean chili sauce, seaweeds and little snacks were everywhere. oh yes, not forgetting the eye soothing experience of seeing hot girls and guys everywhere. hahhahas.

being on Communist land, zero access to social networks like facebook, twitter and youtube. though it gives us a tougher time to document the event socially online, amen to a good getaway. (:

ok. so no Bowling, no Rugby, no Touch there though. but though i didn't go there as a competitor, as a photographer, it was something i couldn't ask more for. daily activities includes exchanging country pins, wearing the light blue landyard photo-ed i/d card, and even exchanging shirts/pants/jackets with other countries. ya, and being treated like delegates, movie stars and all. i mean like, the 1 hr journey roads otw to the Opening Ceremony were all blocked out (and i mean to and fro) just for us, and having a policeman standing at the side of the road for at least every 2km, adding on on-looking spectators at junctions just to have a glimpse of us in the buses.

probably the best thing that can happen to me for 2011.
thank you everyone who has left a mark in this set of awesome memory. (:

that was just a generic description for the description box for the photo album in fb. hahas.
and on a personal note, it was just a great trip to get away from Singapore and a break away from all the nonsense i was struggling with just before i left.

i went there as a photographer under the Singapore University Sports Council, it was literally all expenses paid for me. i literally didn't have to bring a single cent out apart from bringing money to by those (dirt cheap, too excellent china-made) BEATS earphones, and get to have a experience of a lifetime.

the other hugeass event i covered was IMF back in 2006, where i was literally the beginning of my photography journey that made a big difference in my life. but this Universiade, was totally a whole new level. i guess coz Shenzhen was also bigger, and thus, there were more visible outdoor marketing efforts; and this time round, i was treated as a delegate rather than a backend media person. what's more is that it was a like a Sports + Photography in a whole new foreign land rather than business+photography on local ground, making me more excited about everything. in both ways, these are 2 hardisks of memories that i'll die to keep them forever. and really, at such extents, friendships made are always with big big smiles.

[i dont think, with the amount of things-to-do on hand, i am able to do a day to day post like how i did with IMF. but, i'll update this space time to time with my fav photos to do some justice to my post on sucha great event. (: ]
